Zip Screens

Vertical screens running in zipped side channels, sealing a veranda or tasting terrace against sun, wind and insects — the product that turns an exposed patio into a usable outdoor room.

01

The zip difference

The fabric edge is welded into a zipper that runs captive in aluminium side channels — no flapping, no gaps, real wind resistance. An ordinary drop roller flaps and can escape its guides in a strong gust; a zipped screen holds tension through exactly the kind of sustained wind Bottelary's open, shelterless farmland carries more of than anywhere else on the route.

02

Fabric choices

Sunscreen mesh, in various openness percentages, keeps the vineyard view out while cutting glare, UV and insects, with daytime privacy as a bonus. Clear PVC or crystal panels give a wind-and-rain-proof enclosure that keeps the view entirely — the right call for a winter tasting room that still wants to feel outdoors. Blockout options exist too, for an outdoor screening evening or killing hard west sun completely.

03

Where they earn their keep

Tasting-terrace and braai-room enclosures, wind suppression on exposed or valley-funnelled positions, and estate properties wanting a fully enclosed outdoor room without permanent building work. Motorisation is standard on wide spans, with wind-sensor retract recommended for any exposed position — spans run to 4m-plus class per screen, with channels colour-matched to the structure.

  • Genuine wind resistance where a drop roller would flap and fail
  • Sunscreen mesh, clear PVC or blockout, chosen per opening
  • Multi-screen enclosures for a full terrace, motorised and wind-sensor as standard

One honest limit

Clear PVC panels need periodic cleaning to stay genuinely clear, and any multi-screen enclosure is a bigger-ticket, bigger-planning job than a single blind — worth discussing at the measure stage, not adding on afterward.
